Rebuilding KPT-904 crossovers

Hey all,

I'm rebuilding the stock crossovers for the KPT-904's with what I think are better than stock parts. I could be wrong though, trying to keep cost in order. The big change I'm making is ditching the iron core inductors for some air core inductors.  The problem is I cannot find a 3mh air inductor that matches the given spec of the crossover network.  The schematic calls for a DCR of a max .8ohms.  I can only find either a DCR of .93 or .708.  Which would work best and what would these values do over stock?

Also, I was thinking about using Dayton Audio Polypropylene capacitors, yes or no?

Thanks,

Jason

You would be fine with any DCR under .8 ohms, if you went to a 16awg you would lower that value.  Here is an example:

You will gain nothing going to a foil style inductor, the audio  frequency range are out of the range where it is beneficial.

As for the LF, an iron core inductor is perfectly fine and again nothing would be gained using anything else.

On your caps the Dayton “class” of caps would be great for a budget re build.
