prodj101
well, I am planning a new DIY speaker project. One that will be big enough to fill our living room with ease I think this time. The bookshelfs weren't loud enough to get to the high levels that I often listen to my music at. I am thinking floorstanders, in the larger range (maybe around 45 inches tall, 10 inches wide, and 25 inches deep maybe?). It will be a 2 way system, with dual 6.5 or 8 inch drivers. I can't decide between the 2, what do you guys think? The tweeter woofer aragnement will be de apolito (spelling, lol). I am also still trying to decide on a sealed or ported enclosure. Any suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated.
tpg
I would personally go with a folded horn enclosure with dual 15" Eminence pro-woofers with around a 100 dB sensitivity. Then go for a nice Selenium horn tweeter... and you will have some loud stuff. Just me though. If your choosing between 6.5" and 8", I would go 8"... simply because larger woofers are always better. If you could, heck, go with 10". Unfortunately, all the drivers with high sensitivities are not really that pretty to look at...
prodj101
I'm not going for max volume here. Just something that is going to get me up to around 105 db without a ton of distortion. I am kinda planning something on the more fancy side.
