zoocow
My brother is planning on building a home theater room. He is thinking about inwall speakers vs. floorstanding. What are your opinions on this. I really don't have much experience with inwalls. Can they serve as good front and center channel speakers? prodj101
floorstanders will be louder, cleaerer, have more bass, better midrange, and everything else. just cost more and take up more space.
iXtreme
Actually, that is kinda right and kinda wrong. In walls actually get alot of bass due to their mount style. I have two sets of 6-1/2's wall mounted upstairs and the bass is way overpowering the mids and highs. It is just for background sound so high quality audio up there was not a priority. I would seriously stay away from wall mounts in a HT. Go for the boxes and be done with it. If you do decide to go in wall make sure you have the internal wall sections the same internal volume as mine are not and the bass is noticably different in the bigger cavaties then the smaller ones. j-malotky
Zoo If he is really serious about this. Nothing beats an all Heritage HT. Heresys (evan though they are floor speakers and the smallest of the Heritage line) are easy to mount on the walls. JM

Colin
There is a web site devoted to infinite baffle loudspeaker systems (in wall). They do have some advantages, but you can not easily buy recognizable brand name models at low prices, use them for years and then sell them for what you paid for them as easily as box loudspeakers.
