Gino
My subwoofer (model R-115SW) makes a knocking sound even at low level volume. Issue is resolved when I apply a light pressure on rubber surrounding cone. Please help, I have no idea what to do nor do I know what is going on. MEH Synergy
Voice coil rub? With the sub off and unplugged, you can try lightly applying pressure to the fond pushing in and see if you hear a scratching/rubbing noise. If so.... Perhaps that woofer is a bit toasty...
Gino
I did that and no scratching. I also verified resistance and am at around 8 ohms. I have also sprayed glue in the box in case it was something loose causing the noise.

Peter P.
The spider has come unglued because the speaker was overdriven at some point. Applying slight pressure on the rubber surround prevents the speaker from moving too far, eliminating the noise. If you remove the woofer and move the cone in/out with your fingers, you can observe whether the spider is moving along with the cone or not. That should be conclusive evidence. A company like Simply Speakers may be able to repair it.
