z06guy
I have a Pioneer VSX-49TXi. I want to upgrade my speakers. I am looking at some RF7's for the fronts, RC7 for the center, RS7's for the sides, RB5II's for the rears and an RSW15 for the sub. Does this sound like a workable system? Any suggestions? Thanks
dougdrake
Sounds like a wonderful system. Just remember that the RB-5s are rear-ported, so they'll need a little room behind them to breathe -- i.e. no wall mounting. DD
z06guy
I didn't think about the RB5's being rear ported. If I wanted to put the rears next to the wall, what would you recomend? Another pair of RS7's?
dougdrake
I believe that's your only non-ported option in a Reference speaker, so I think you're correct. DD
xp153dragon
my system is a little less, but it meets my needs. i have decided to go with the Synergy series for best bang for the buck. this system is in my bedroom and so far it is awesome. current speakers: Klipsch Synergy SF-2B Front Klipsch Synergy SB-2 Rear speakers to get: Klipsch Synergy SS.5 Surrounds Klipsch Synergy SC1B Center
proudestmonkey
actually according to thx ultra 2 specs the rear surrounds should be direct radiating and should be placed 4 ft apart. i would do the rb5's away from the wall or maybe 2 rc7's. joe
z06guy
Well, I did it!!! RF7's in front, RS7's on the sides, RB5II's in back, an RC7 in the center and an RSW15 sub. The system sounds great! Thanks for the feedback.

z06guy
I think the 49TXi & the DV-47Ai are perfect companions. I love it.
MrMcGoo
z06guy, Congratulations on your new speakers!!! I am amazed that so many folks on ths forum have similar setups. The only difference in my speaker setup is that I have RS-3IIs for surround backs. What finish did you select? I went with black to match my TV and 49TXi receiver. z06guy
I went with the cherry. I had a black entertainment center, but my boss (hehe) insisted that we change it. Now we have a cherry entertainment center too. Hopefully she won't want to spray paint the PRO1000 too.
