rear channel for KG 5.5

I have the KG 5.5 for the right and left with the KV3 used for the center. I never bought any Klipsch for the rear, instead was using my old pair of stero speakers. What should I use to match my speakers? Was the KV3 intended for 5.5 ? The test tone never sounded correct when I bought them about six years ago.

Yes the KV-3 was the correct matching center offered at the time. The only way you'll get an absolute match between the L/R front and the center is to use the same speaker for the center as the fronts.

If you want rear speakers for HT use you could use RS-3's. For multi-channel music you might try any of the smaller KG line. See the 'Classics' section on this site in 'Home Audio'(click 'Products' above ). Good luck!

I used to have a KV3 as my center with my KG5.5s. I always felt like the little KV3 just couldn't quite keep up. I bought a used, lone KG4.2 to get the tweeter (since it's the same as the one in the KG5.5) and will be using it along with four Klipsch 6.5s (K-1075-SV) to build a custom center channel that should be a near perfect match! For the rears I bought all the parts from a pair of KG3.2s and I also plan to build a custom enclosure for them (to fit my built-in bookcases in the rear of the room).

I'll let you know how it turns out. I sent the order off to the mill shop last week. For an extra $20 they will cut the MDF for all four speakers (I'm also re-boxing my sub) to my exact specifications. That should save me a lot of time and work!
