Ramswaroop
Hi, I bought a pair of rf3s and was appaled at the quality of wires used inside for wiring the drivers to the crossover. (It can be seen through the generous bass port behind). I was wondering if I could remove the woofer mount screws, take out the woofers and rewire them with superior monster cable. ( I guess this is the major difference between the RF3s and RF3 IIs) But do the woofers come off just like that or are they glued to the front frame? And how smart an idea would it be to go ahead and rewire them? thanks in advance, Ramswaroop
Bruinsrme
That seems like a great Sunday project. if you are an experienced solderer and take precautions from dripping solder I would assume you would be doing a service to your speakers. I amsure that would void any warranty if there was one to void.
Malcolm
IMHO you would be wasting your time. I doubt there will be an audible difference although you may think you hear one. Look at the wiring on Klipschorns and other Heritage series speakers. 18 gauge zip cord was good enough for PWK. IMHO Monster cable in Klipsch speakers is nothing more than a marketing gimmic.
