Zero Gear
I _hate_ the wires that klipsch uses.. what kind of wires should I get.. or where.. to get a more clear sound.. static.. (higher gauge..)
xbulgoogyx
get some 16 gauge wire and four solderless 1/8" mono plugs from radio. it's pretty self explanatory. you should be able to figure it out. if not, just ask again. good luck. Durandal
Is the wire that Klipsch uses not that good? I'm really not a sound expert, so that's why I'm asking ;o}.
totalkaos
I think the wire that klipsch is using in thier promedia line is 22 guage wire... the lower the guage number... the thicker the wire is... that is until you get to the plus sizes.... thicker wire usually mean less resistance and helps to conduct the signal better... herez a link about wire... http://www.sundial.net/~rogerr/wire.htm
Paragon
I think it is 20 take a look at these http://www.geocities.com/venhaus1/diycatfivecables.html
Billie Jean
I think the crackling actually comes from the 1/8" plugs. But the wire does suck too. You know electric current can only travel on the outside surface of a wire? That's why Monster Cable is so great. They use alot of little tiny wires wrapped together to make one big wire, but the current runs along the outside surface of each tiny wire. This means there's more surface area than a regular wire of the same size, which in turn delivers more current to your speakers, which is always a good thing. Paragon
Which crackling? twisting the jack crackling? ya.. that is from bad plugs.. bad contact.. whichever.
totalkaos
Yup... current... or charge on any conductor resides entirely on the surface of the conductor... this is due to the repulsive forces of the electrons towards each other... causeing them to "get away" from each other as far as possible... Here's a lil question now that you know this... If you were in a lightning storm... would you... a)run around wailing your arms... b)jump into a steel tool shed... c)jump into a plastic tent...
