rtaylor
Looked up the new Lascalas I purchased and they are 86's.Type AL crossovers. Was wondering about upgrading these or if it is neccessary. Are the newer drivers without the alnico magnets considered inferior? The old ones I owned were alnico but I can't do an A B comparason. JohnA
The AL is my least favorite crossover network. Personally, I would replace them with Type AAs or even home-built AAs made from the highest quality components. If you are not into soldering, Al's ALKs are an outstanding choice and his workmanship is excellent. Though I have not heard them, the Type AL-3s were designed for your driver set and are also supposed to sound very good.
