NOSValves
That would be $100+ toward a nice preamp !!!!!!
JCturboT
Dave, Never tried the JJ EL34s but did have a very favorable experience with some JJ EL84s before I got wise and went back to Solid State (just kiddin' guys). I really liked the JJs as compared to the Sovtek that were in my Manley Stingray-just a much warmer sound on my K-horns and the prices are very resonable, especially when you had to buy 8 output tubes as is the case with the 'ray. If you want to deal with a down-to-earth honest guy who knows his stuff talk to Bob over at www.eurotubes.com A matched quad of JJ EL34Ls will run you $48.00. lynnm
I have three Sovtech EL34's and a Ruby running in my amp and they sound lovely ( I had 4 Sovtechs but one went south on me). FWIW I don't hear any difference with my current setup.
