Tony Boone
On my Mac amp I have the option of selecting between 0.75 volts or 2.5 volts input sensitivity. The manual says for best signal to noise ratio use the 0.75 volt setting when using Mac sources. I have no other Mac equipment at the moment. I notice a significant increase in gain when I use the 0.75 setting and was wondering if by using this setting will I get a lesser quality sound as compared to the 2.5 volt setting? I really don't understand what this setting does and hope you all will humor me with your wisdom. I like the extra punch I get with the 0.75 volt setting but don't want to sacrifice quality for quantity. Thanks, Tony
Deang
The lower gain setting should have slightly less distortion with your horns -- but use your ears. I would personally use the lower setting so you can get volume knob around some. Use search and look for "preamps" and "gain" on 2 channel under my username. There have been numerous threads on this.
