prodj101
ok, you know the little cover thing that goes over the horn on the RF-5 speakers, or the promedias, or any other klipsch full range speaker other than the RF-7? can you remove those? and if so would it improve the sound clarity at all? I was just wondering, because even though the RF-7 does without it (which leads me to believe it may just be for protection) it also looks like it aids somehow to sound dispertion and imaging. jdm56
I don't think it would help the sound any to remove it. It probably would ugly it up a bunch, though. I mean, if it's particle board behind the plastic, it's probably not painted, and the driver trim may not look so good, either.
JohnA
Post a picture! I think you are describing the phase plug and that you don't want to remove. If you don't see it in the RF-7, it is inside the compression driver. The cheaper RF-Xs have the driver and horn made as one piece.
