qlele
I am converting my bedroom into a home theater. I have already taken out the closet door and used the closet space for a 100 in screen. There is no room within the closet for my front speaker. There are, however, some room to the left and right of my closet that could be used to put the left and right speakers in. The left side, if I cut open the sheetrock, there is a cavity space of about 2'x2'x8' (feet). The right side, if I cut open the front sheetrock, it will open into the closet. Ok, here is the question: If I cut my sheetrock and place my front RF3 speakers inside, how will it sound? I don't want to cut out the sheetrock if the acoustic change drastically. Thanks for your help.
justin_tx_16
My concern would be the port on the back of the RF-3. I have never actually looked at the back of an RF-3, but I think it does have a port like all the other RF-X speakers. Putting that in a hole could have adverse side effects. whell
Unfrtunately, it will likely sound terrible. The Rf-3 needs at least 12 inches between the rear bass port and the wall behind the speaker. Your RF-3's bass output will suffer tremendously with the set up you propose.
marksdad
i believe the specs call for at least the size of the port for distance from the wall, but you can not enclose a rear ported speaker
