lynnm
Matt Could you take another look at that serial number. I think it is missing a letter code or a couple of digits. The usual format would look like 20Y1234 which would translate to built week 20 of 1983 and being unit number 1234. Speakers made after 1983 had all numeric codes but those had either an 8 or 9 digit format. The Lascala uses a 15" woofer. The fact that they use the AL-3 leads me to suspect that they are of fairly recent vintage but I could be mistaken on that.
JohnA
Lynn is correct. The AL-3 is well after '83. Type AL was used then. Yours are late 90s through 2000. The serial numbers get screwy in that period. Can you fing them?
matt love
Thanks for the quick reply. I double check the speakers and here is what i got. speaker #1 s/n 108274 p/n 09000/11200 w/u 22625 speaker #2 s/n 108273 p/n same as 1 w/u same as one Also do you guys think i'm using to much power for the lows by bi-amping? my sp2-g's can handle 400 watts cont. the la scala as you know handles 100 watts cont. The cs 1000x is 500 watts into 4 ohms per channel. I have one la scala and one 2-g per side. It seems like the peavey takes most of the power. and the la scalas as you know.Don't need that much power. Does klipsch make a 15 inch woofer that can handle 300 to 400 watts cont.?I would love to replace them. And I'm more that sure the cabinets can handle them. IndyKlipschFan
Matt, Klipsch does, in fact, make an industrial woofer able to use 200 watts per channel continuous, much more peak. While the La Scala's will play at enourmously loud levels and clear as day too, it is by no means a true SUB woofer. That said, a clean very good commercial 31 band high end EQ will find you more than enough low end, and if not, a true sub will fill in the woofs...in woofer sub land..hehehe Good luck.
