Allan Songer
Pick this one up and then hunt for a mate for the rest of your life!! Actually, these come up on ebay about once or twice a year . . . I once heard a pair in action---TALK ABOUT HEADROOM! On the bench they've been known to pump out 300+ watts of TRIODE power. YIKES! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3040570300&category=39783
Deang
Yikes, and I thought I liked a little bit of power.
Allan Songer
The pair I once heard came from a Raytheon defense industry plant where they ran HUGE shaker tables. The guy got them for NOTHING when they upgraded!!! He used them as PA amps for concerts for a while before bringing them home to power a pair of Altec VOT--talk about OVERKILL. Most people don't even know about the McIntosh industrial stuff---it was all built to the HIGHEST standards, even more so than their consumer gear. A 300 watt triode is a pretty amazing feat--and they SOUNDED good too!
