mj_ok
Hello, Anyone else tapped on the bass ports of the new Reference series bookshelf models? They don't seem very solid. MJ
kenratboy
I have not, but I have faith in Klipsch that everything is engineered to perfection, ESPECIALLY on the Reference Series. A frame of a house looks really weak and shoddy, but we know at the end of the day it is fine.
m00n
Call Klipsch, maybe you got unlucky and the speaker was damaged durring shipping or something.
mj_ok
Hello, There was nothing wrong with the speakers. Klipsch is using a thin plastic port which doesn't sound solid to me when tapped. I just wondered if anyone else came across the same. tom67
My RB5s came in box with one port loose and simply glued it back in...No problem. They are not of robust construction and frankly like plastic toilet paper rolls but when properly fastened, are inert and non- resonant.Im sure Klipsch has experimented with various materials and used one that is fine, albeit low cost.We both might be surprised by high cost solid materials that would actually present a sonic problem. TheEAR
MJ, Yes I noticed this NEW and cheapie trend,I tapped on the ports too(I tap test all cabinets and anything that can resonate). What I found is thin plastic being used but remember the port lets air flow and no high pressure is applied on its sides.SO its no big deal Ok if my Dynaudio Contour or Avalon used these ports I would scream vengance and demand justice, but listen these speakers are inexpensive and to be honnest these ports work well(auditioned a few from the new range). I still prefer the older R series porting and look. The most striking example is the new RW subs, the front plastic bottom/port piece looks and feels like a $99 sub quality.AT least Klipsch should use thicker/better quality plastic. They must have molding machines and the added cost would be minor. Look ar Paradigm,a true reference when it comes what can be done for your dollar. The moldings are of very high quality and even the model stickers have class. No joke
mj_ok
Hello, Yesterday I heard the new Klipsch Reference serie is especially made for the European market. Does this mean there also is an American version of this series? Has anyone an idea? Greetings from the Netherlands, MJ
