TheEAR
ProDJ, As impressive as the ATI Radeon 9800PRO is its the weak memory overclock that disapoints me,I have the 9800PRO 256MB and the 9800PRO AIW.The 9800PRO AIW stalls at about 364MHz(728 effective),a very poor overclock. The core however reaches very high speeds, amazing considering the 15 micron process, imagine what ATI is capable of on a 13 micron GPU(9600PRO being a small hint). Still even clocked stock the 9800PRO cards burn rubber and slingshot past the FX5900Ultra GPU's,I have the MSI FX5900Ultra 256MB NBOX,the ASUS FX5800(overclocked to 500Core/1000Memory!Ultra speed)and they both get mashed in Direct X 9.0 by ATI'best. The FX5800 overclocks like a champ, with proper cooling I reached 536 core and 1044 memory.Superb for Quake 3 based games, blazing fast. prodj101
I can go higher than what I'm clocked at, I just decided to bump it all since nothing I'm running right now needs the extra juice. the only game I currently play is counter strike. the last time I had bumped it up was when I was benchmarking.
