mark1101
Anyone either have this unit, or know about its performance? It's on SONY's low line of SACD players. Just wondering if it's any good and if it compares in any way to the better ones (scd-c555es, etc.)
NOSValves
I have 2 of them. They are great values and sound pretty darn good with SCAD and Okay with Redbook. Are they in the same league as the ES line no way no how ! But they cost 10 times less !!
mark1101
Thanks Craig. I am mostly going to use it for 2 Ch. Can you think of something better in the price range? Or is that the one to get?
Kudret
mark, I've been using a scd-775 with Scott 299B and I am extremely pleased with it. It is an excellent SACD player for $150-175. Of course, 333 (or the multi channel version 555) would be a better choice but for at least twice the price. kudret

NOSValves
I thnik the price would be more like 3 or 4 times more for a 333 or 555. It is a nice player for the cheese not sure what would better it for 150.00 but for 2 channel REDBOOK the current Sony ES 5 disc CA7ES would out do it readily for $299 new online and various places or used if you can find one. I had this player and prefered it for redbook by a large margin to the CE-775 for Redbook. But rmemeber this is not a SACD player.
