Alex T.
What kind of comparisons are there between the two? I am trying to justify getting a DD5.1, however my sound card already does alot of decoding.
doudou
if you use the DD5.1 you won t have to use your pc to decod a digital signal and you wont have to wait until your pc starts. i ve a sb audigy 2 and since i get an external decoder i don t use the sb anymore. (sorry if there are mistakes i m french and i haven t speak english for a long time)

You have to have WinDVD or PowerDVD which uses the CPU to do the decoding. The sound card only has the DACs on board. doudou
the audigy 2 decodes the DD and the audigy 2 ZS decodes the DTS. you can decode a dd or dts signal with windvd and without one of this sound card,it uses the cpu but with a such soundcard it is the soundcard wich decodes the signal without using the cpu. hat3rz
i was wondering if any of you have had any problems with the decoding in the audigy. when i hook up my dvd player to my soundcard using digital input, the sound doesn't match what im watching on my tv. would the dd 5.1 work better? doudou
i m sorry dut i don t know. i think the best solution is to try a DD5.1 in fact the main aim of a sound card isn t to decod DTS or Dolby digital so it may be normal.
KiNNi C P
audigy's DD and DTS decoding is done in their software and it sounds horrendous compared to the DD5.
