Eskimo
When I invested in my KLF-20's for my main speakers while stationed in Germany (Thanks Klipsch for offering your products to the Military!), the infamous KLF-7 wasn't available. As time went on, I've muddled though with a center channel from Klipsch's lower line, but now that I can swing getting the real, matching center channel for the KLF-20's, I can't find any. I've "heard" that the current reference series is the replacement for my KLF's... would the sound of a reference series center be a good match? (Thinking the RC-7?) Thanks, Rich
SteelerFan
As far as the RC-7 being a decent match I can't say, I've never heard the Legend series. If I was you, I wouldn't be so quick to give up on finding a C7. Just a year ago I remember there were brand new ones all over ebay when I was looking for an Academy. I would think good used ones would not be that hard to locate if you are patient. Have you tried audiogon?
dougdrake
Yes, find a KLF-C7 somewhere, even used. You'll be much happier, I believe, than using an RC-something.
Mlstrass
The KLF-C7 is the correct CC or you could do as I did and convert a KLF-10. There's one for sale on here right now.
avman
find a pair of klf-20's and split them w/me! we can then turn them into center channels and have the BEST match possible. avman.
Eskimo
KLF-20 center channel, now that will be one BIG center channel! Not like the KLF-C7 was puny by any means, but wow... You guys are seriously nuts... I LOVE IT!
avman
crazy like a fox... i like my c-7 center, and it is a good center channel, BUT it DOESN'T match the klf-20/30 because it isn't the same. i will turn a klf-20 into a center channel to match my klf-30's, it is only a matter of time and opportunity. avman. dougdrake
Eskimo - He's not nuts. Several of us are using full size speakers for center speakers. Check my signature.
Eskimo
I'm just thinking of how big a cabinet big enough to hold a converted KLF-20 on top of a TV would be.. I don't have a dedicated HT room, and I know my S/O would highly object to something that big in front of the TV in the living room.. I'm just a tadpole in this big HT pond... cleandan
Eskimo, do your best to get a KLF-C7 center for your KLF-20's. It is a bit large, but not as large as a converted KLF-20. I have (4) KLF-20's as front and rear mains. I used to have a couple other Klipsch centers and none of them "fit" as well as the KLF-C7. The whole audio picture changed when I finally added the KLF-C7. No, it is not audio nirvana, but it is worth your time and effort to find one. dcelov
I have the KLF-20s and ran a RC-3 center for several years. I recently purchased a used KLF-C7 from eBay and I'm pleased with the change. You can usually find used KLF-C7s on eBay so give it a try. The price range is around $300 - $400. SCOOTERDOG
Talk about large centers. Here is a pic of my custom center. approx 43"x 13.5"x 15" weighing in at a wopping 88lbs. Cabinet is built in the tradition of all heritage speakers with driver components from heritage, legend, and reference series. It sounds soooo sweet. So build your own and fun doing it and gain a center speaker worthy. scooter
