Stereophile review of RB-15

Recommended Posts

The first reveiw in Stereophile or TAS I have seen in I have no idea how long.

Strange how they review a real basic entry level speaker.

I would have prefered RB-5 II, RB-75(which I heard recently with tubes) or the RF-7.

Summary

"It is definitely a contender" (in this price range)

John Atkinson

Not bad; but I hope they can review a more high linnne Klipsch in the future.

I subscribe to Stereophile, and yes, it's interesting they picked the Klipsch speaker at the bottom of the food chain. Stereophile seems to focus on products that either no one's heard of or no one can afford. I do miss Stereo Review magazine, but I also subscribe to Sound and Vision, which I believe evolved from Stereo Review.

The review was part of a cover story on monitors picking three at very different price points.

I read a review of the RF7's in SOund & Vision about 2 years ago. They reviewer didin't like the horn tweeter...hasn't this always been the case?

What did you think of the TAS "Product of the Year" award to a $699 Rotel CD player? It was a surprise to me as I don't see the revolution of this product...but then I haven't heard it.

Tony,

I'd love to see Stereophile get a hold of a pair of current k-horns, too! I also wonder how k-horn sales compare to other speakers in that price range. Do you suppose Paul's namesake is still competitive in the marketplace with the latest and greatest from the current darlings of the audio world?

well I am biased James, but I DO think the k-horns would stack up well. Having them review it would also help me put into perspective all their other reviews, since I could judge against my own direct experience. Maybe we should start a letter campaign to get them to do the klipshorn...? warm regards, tony
