lancestorm
Awesome. Nice and clean, looks good. Any plans to tilt the center speaker down towards the listener?
muleman
Great question. The center channel is an ACADEMY, the recommended sonic match to the FORTE-II's. Before purchasing this center channel (from another forum member), I had an RC3-II. The RC3-II had a little adjustment screw on the bottom so you can tilt the speaker, which I certainly utilized. The ACADEMY, being an older speaker, does not have this adjustment screw. In its current orientation, lying flat on the TV, I had to bump up the center channel level to compensate when calibrating the system. Does that establish an equivalence to a tilted speaker with a lower channel lavel? maybe and maybe not. I think that tilting the speaker would actually be better. I will probably do that once I find a way to do it asthetically and securely. I think the TV can handle the weight with no problems.
jhawk92
Mule- Great pic. Yeah, the Academy is a great match with the Forte II. I would also recommend tilting the speaker to face the listening area, as it certainly helps. Tilting might make a small difference in channel levels, since the speaker would be facing directly at the listener. But I doubt it would make much more than 1-1.5dB difference. For me, I purchased a cheap VCR shelf from the local Container Store, which has adjustable feet. However, the Academy is realistically heavier than the shelf should handle, but works for now. You might look at mounting it on a shelf behind the TV. That way you would have plenty of support. Don't forget to put a lip on the shelf to prevent slipping.
