drewzter
Some of you have mentioned good prices on eBay... have you seen uBid ? they're even better. I'm putting my mom's home theater together and just bought her a KSC-C1 center channel from uBid. uBid also has the KG 3.5's for 80 bucks a piece. Would these be a good complement to the KSC-C1 at that price? Are they even worth that price? (I have no idea about these older ones, don't think I've ever heard them) They seem comparable, though, as far as efficiency... the 55 watt power handling spec kind of scares me - can they really only take 55 watts? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance! This message has been edited by drewzter on 06-27-2001 at 03:12 PM
SteveLee
The KSC-C1 was the center for the "previous generation" of Synergy bookshelf speakers -- KSB 1.1, 2.1, 3.1 and S1. I can't answer how well the C1 matches the KG3.5's, but I expect you'd be better off trying to go with the "voice-matched" speakers from the Synergy series. The actual matching speakers are usually listed on eBay. Every now and again, I've seen 1.1's through 3.1's offered on uBid. The front speakers are also still available through Vanns.com. Good luck! DLUngurait
drewzster, I use that exact combination on my front soundstage: KG 3.5 mains and KSC-C1 center (also SS-1 surrounds). The match is not perfect BUT it's pretty close...so at the prices you are talking...you should be more than pleased. And DO NOT worry about the 55 watt max on the KSC-C1 or the 65 watt max on the KG 3.5's. Those ratings are maximum CONTINOUS wattage...You'll be deaf if you listen to those speakers at that kind of continous volume. Even lower end Klipsch speakers are very efficient. Good Luck! drewzter
Thanks! I won the auction at $99/each. uBid kinda makes their money off shipping (3.99 + .99/lb), but I still came out lower than what they're going for on eBay. Can't wait 'till they get here! We're excited! Last thing to get is the KSW-12... anyone know where the best prices are? ------------------ Front: dbx Soundfield V - 15" woofer, 8" mid, ribbon tweet, 3.25" mid & dome tweet on top Center: KLF C7 Rear Surround: Polk f/x bipole/dipole Amp: Yamaha RX-V990 100x3; 25x2 DVD: Yamaha DVD S795 (built-in DD Processor) CD: Yamaha CDC 575 5-Disc VCR: Toshiba M752 6-head TV: Mitsubishi 40" Tube DirecTV Sony Playstation w/ s-vid & RCA V990 for awesome gaming picture & sound!
