DwK
I heard 2 of these bad ***'s today... The 10 inch and the 15 inch. The 10 blew away just about any other sub around. Compared it to the KSW-10 HAHAHAHA should have saved the KSW the embarrasment.... As for the 15...... WOW!!! MY MOTHER MONKEE FREAKIN GOD!!!! Simply the best damn subwoofer EVER... untile I hear the 18 inch version.... <big grin> This thing ROCKED majorly. Simply the best. And any one that owns one... I envy you, I am soooo jelous. I checked out the site when I got home www.velodyne.com Looked at the specs on these speakers. Dual 3" (3 inch i think) voice coils. 1250 continious wattage 3000 peak I played this THX Ultimant BAss test I downloaded, It was cranked up, the walls, everything in the room was shaking and raddling... it was great.. You could SOO feel it, and the sub never came close to distorting, it was just a ride in the park on a suny sunday afternoon. one more time.. WOW! i'm through... ------------------ Living Room: Yamaha Natural Sound A-500 Stereo Amplifier 2 Klipsch Heresys on A switch 2 Fisher STV-873 on B switch My Room: Klipsch Pro Medias 2 Fisher Surrounds
Jo-Jo
He speaks the truth... I was there. While I haven't been into speakers very long, I LOVED bass for awhile, and these were very nice quality- very clear- no distortion- again, very nice. Anyone wanna sell one for cheap? Heh, no, I doubt you're THAT kind...

jelliott100
I listened to the Velo's before purchasing a sub from SV. The Velodynes definitely rock hard but to my ears, the SV beats them handily and costs half as much. Of course, look at the size of the SV compared to an HGS-10. If you need the small size, there are very few things on the market that can run with those Velo's. ------------------ --Elliott--

RWMIN
I have an HGS 12 and Boa has an HGS 18. The Velodyne HGS line is among the very best out there IMO. For the price there are others that can produce good quality bass and as much as the big Vels for less. Even the V in SVS (Tom Vodhanel) suggests Velodyne subwoofers. He does know his stuff and he says that a couple of SVS subs cost less and perform as well as the big Vels but he also says that the Velodyne 15-18" servo's are top notch all the way. I would LOVE to have an HGS 18 and I wish I spent $150 bucks more and got the 15". The 12" is nice and is only capable of 2.7 % distortion but the Vel HGS 15 adds 6 DB to the 12". That's the same as 2 12's for hardly any extra money. The 18 adds yet another 4 db or so to the 15. They do kick some serious butt. I listed my HGS 12 for sell at $1000 and my wife through a fit. She said that the quality bass that we have now can not be found using any other sub. DwK
Seems to me Having a Couple HGS 18's in the house, playing something with alot of bass down to like 15 hz would kill you......... But those few minutes before you die, would be Heaven for a few people in here that love the bass. Thats the way I wanna go............. ------------------ Living Room: Yamaha Natural Sound A-500 Stereo Amplifier 2 Klipsch Heresys on A switch 2 Fisher STV-873 on B switch My Room: Klipsch Pro Medias 2 Fisher Surrounds
jelliott100
DwK, In another thread, you mentioned that you listened to the Velodynes at "Hillcrest". Would that be Hillcrest HiFi in Dallas? ------------------ --Elliott-- Heresy Mains (Birch) Heresy Surrounds (Walnut) RC-3 Center (Because a C7 won't fit!) J M O N
DWK, The other Hillcrest location is on Parker, just West of the Tollway (in West Plano). It is quite a bit larger than their other place. It's been around only about a year or so.
boa12
yes i love my hgs-18's quantity & quality of low bass best i can remember. that is because the techie at the shop hooked it back up wrong when taking a broken pin out of a line jack. that was about a month ago. the velo fsx-12 they gave me for a loaner doesn't even compare. vel will charge some for a new hgs-18. best price i've seen is around $2k (msrp=$3k). ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster CX-2 biwire & Z-12 cable Marantz SR-8000 receiver Sony DVP-C650D 5-disk cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Monster MCX Biwires Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage 1975) Russound AB-2 receiver switch to RF-3 Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd changer Technics SL-1950 turntable/AT LS500 cartridge Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on!
