Hmmm...SP1 buy or fly?

I've had the KG-4s for about 17 years now and LOVE them. Last fall I added the SC1, KSW15 and a pair of SS1 (?) surrounds. I also rotated out my Adcom seperates and brought in a Nakamichi AV10. All this tied into a 55" digital tv with dolby satellite. I've been happy but...

At a local shop, I came across a fantastic opportunity to get a pair of SP1 for a great price. The literature on Klipsch's website does not recommend the combination of SP1 and KSW. What's the deal? Has anybody used the SP1 with a sub and what were the results?

Thanks and rock on.

C'mon BobG, PhilH or JimG...please don't leave me hangin' on this. Time is for this great deal is getting short and your input is most helpful.

Why is the KSW not recommended for the SP1s? I'm sure I can simply make the terminal connections, but what should be the expected outcome of mixing these two components? TIA.

My guess is that the SP1 already has built in subs, hence for the person who doesn't have room for a seperate sub. I would keep the KG4 over the SP1, especially if you like the KG4. That's just my opinion .

TSull:

tman is right on the reason. Not saying you could not use the SP-1's with a sub though...just careful placement and proper hookup needed to keep away from bass cancellation problems. I believe when BobG had his KSP-400's, he had a separate sub connected to his center channel speaker. If done right, it can produce some couch rumbling bass...
