CF-4 vs. Klipschorn

The following speakers are listed on ebay:

"EPIC CF-4 Floorstanding Tower Speakers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO RESERVE!!

These speakers offer better imaging than even the famed Klipschorn, as evaluated by owners of both the CF-4's and K-Horns on the Klipsch Forum.

Peak Power Handling (1200W) surpasses KLF-30 (800W) and the new RF-7 (1000W).

Unlike these other speakers, the CF-4's are front ported, allowing close to wall placement."

He claims that some members of this forum believe that the CF-4 have better imaging then K-Horns.

IS THIS TRUE?

It is easier to find a location for front ported floorstanders that K-horns in many homes. Properly set up K-horns will sound better to most listeners IMO, if the electronics on the front end are of suitable quality. Hence your listening room is important to your decision as to the type of speaker that best suits your listening needs.

The CF-4s require a KV-4 center channel for home theater use. The KV-4 is quite rare. The best center channel for the K-horn is either a Belle Klipsch or a LaScala. The latter two speakers are full sized, but provide excellent sound for a center channel.

I've owned Klipschorns, La Scalas and CF-4 (also KG4 and a bunch of other speakers.) In my opinion, the CF-4 were the least family-like of the various Klipsch speakers I've heard. Yes they image well. They are quite efficient, but don't have as much of the klipsch "jump" factor as other Klipsch speakers I've owned. A couple of years ago I had both the CF4 and a pair of La Scala in the same room at the same time, so I could compare them directly. I sold my CF-4 to my brother in law, and kept the pair of La Scala.

Newbie here!

Like almost every other topic I have read here, It comes down to personal preference. When I am listening to classical or jazz music, I prefer my K-Horns. When I am listening to alternative or metal music, or in home theatre mode, I prefer my CF-4's (I do run 2 sw-12's with them). So again, if you get the chance, listen to both with your favorite music. Let your ears decide.
