chuckears
I was asking questions about different HT amps at another forum, and how my Rotel didn't seem to be reproducing the live sound I previously had from a McCormack, and someone hinted that my crossover capacitors may not be functioning as they did when new... I still think the Rotel amp is the culprit, but it did make me wonder what the facts were about crossover caps... do they last indefinitely, or do they wear out? lynnm
I seriously doubt that there is any problem with your crossovers. You changed amps and now you find the sound less satisfying. That is a pretty strong indication as to where the problem is.
WMcD
I'm with Lynnm on this one. All Forte have relatively young caps, and they are of recent design. OTOH, there are some K-Horns coming up on a half century. Some, few, owners report the oil caps are leaking. So capacitors don't have infinite lifetime. None the less, this is one of the last things I'd suspect in troubleshooting a system problem where speakers of Forte vintage are used. chuckears
Thanks for the confirmation, guys. I should have known better... this nugget of advice came from someone who claims there is no difference in sound between amps (or cables, but that is a little more controversial).
