damonrpayne
There's not much for DVD recording in that price range, Home Theater magazine did a comparison on dvd recorders recently though, I will try to remember to look when I get home. gcoker
If she is wanting to record shows and movies from the TV you can use a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) that have internal hard drive. Other than that a DVD recorder will take all your budget.
john4618
Ive had a Panasonic DMR-E60 DVD Recorder for about a year. It is a very nice unit. I use it almost every day. I can record directly to DVD-R or DVD-RAM. Using DVD-RAM you can record over and over again, just like VHS. Using DVD-R you can record only one time on it. I paid almost $600 for mine a year ago, but you can now get them for under $500. I just did a search for Panasonic DMR-E60 and found a site selling it for $458 including shipping. If you buy it online just make sure you ask about the warranty many sites do not offer a warranty or it is extra cost. I haven't bought any DVD-RAM's in a while but I think they are now about $15 each. I just bought 200 Bulk DVD-R's for $97 including shipping.
