whackjester
I was wondering if any one has experienced problems with the rsx-5 speakers. I just got a pair and I have noticed a humming sound from the mid. If I press my finger up gently against the mid, sometimes the noise will go away for a while, other times the humming noise gets worse. Any ideas, or should I just take them back? doudou
it may come from the amp or the source. try to hook some other speakers on your amp and see if one of the speakers move or make some noise. does it happen when you play something? Trooper
Speakers don't hum on their own. It must come from the amp or some other component upstream. If its only one channel swap amp channels and work your way back upstream until you find the source.

hooting_monkey
If you rule out the impossible, (speaker, song, ect.) then whatever remains, however improbable, (high end receiver) must be the cause.
whackjester
Listening longer and more closely to the problem, the sound isn't necessarily a humming, but a crackling sound. If the source (CD, DVD, doesn't matter) hits certain frequent frequency, the speaker cuts out all together. I'm gonna return it. and BTW, I know that touching a speaker isn't a good idea I'm running the speakers with a Pioneer 814 receiver. It's not the greatest, but I think it should be good enough. Anybody have any opinions on this receiver?
