space_cowboy
Do pre-amp tubes ever glow? My mono bloc power amps (ASL Waves, hehe) glow, but the ASL pre's don't. No big deal really, but just curious. Thanks, Mark
3dzapper
Mark, I don't think the preamp has enough voltage to ionize the glass to produce that nice blue glow. Rick
space_cowboy
Thanks 3d............if you just glance at that pic, the blue ones look like a monster with eyes on top and open mouth. Maybe it's time for bed.......I better check under it....

jt1stcav
Not familiar with your pre's tube compliment, but I've noticed how some manufacturer's 12AX7s are more open inside to see their glow, as opposed to another's whose 12AX7s have bigger anodes or are constructed differently, thus blocking the tube's glow IMO. They're glowing inside, rest assured of that. If your system's playing, they're glowing!
radiob
Picture of a blueberry at night, no blue glow. So it is confirmed, pre-amp tubes do not glow blue.
