dodger
Hello: In another thread, I may not have been clear by the response given. If anyone is familiar with Parasound Equipment, more impotantly their Pre-Amplifiers, if you could post any pros or cons you have noticed, I would appreciate so. Any opinion anyone may express from familiarity would be helpful, but not my only criteria. But as there are those with great experience with many Brands which may include Parasound, I would like to know thoughts and any experience regarding Parasound. Thanks, dodger
space_cowboy
Hey dodger, I only have a Parasound phono pre-amp, probably not what you were interested in, but I'm happy with it. Most of their stuff seems well rated and has a rock solid 5/10 year warranty. Mark
nicholtl
Doger, are you primarily looking at their classic line, or their halo line?

Thanks to all who have answered and prehaps Nicholetti you may have some more insight. Thanks, dodger
nicholtl
Hey Dodger. Unfortunately, I haven't actually listened to a P3 in action. All I can say in terms of performance and build-quality of the Halo series, it has been my experience that all Halo products are constructed with attention and care, and the performance never fails to impress. The 10-year warranty doesn't hurt, either. If you check the Parasound website (which I'm sure you have), there are quite a few reviews on the product. http://www.audiorevolution.com/equip/halo/ http://www.t3.co.uk/reviews/default.asp?pagetypeid=2&articleid=14827&subsectionid=756&subsubsectionid=639 http://www.futurelooks.com/display.php?i=218&p=1 However, of all the reviews I've found, Secrets is probably the most reliable. And their reviewer essentially notes that the P3 requires a good deal of time to break-in. He points out that during the break-in period, he was not terribly impressed with the sound. I think you can read in the subtext a little bit of his snobbishness because the unit retails for "only" $800. However, after several days on continuous play, he was MORE than pleasantly surprised. I think you'll find this one a particularly interesting read: http://128.121.62.219/volume_9_4/parasound-halo-p3-preamplifier-10-2002.html So again, at the risk of sounding redundant, while I've never listened to this particular product, of the products of theirs I own and have listened to (C1, C2, A51, A21, A52, A23, JC1), they do not disappoint in the least. Obviously, the recommendation to audition the unit and preferably with speakers akin to yours is the understatement of the century, so all I'll say is don't forget to bring your favorite 2-channel sources! Do let us know how it goes, ok?
