Brap
Building the HT in the basement and need opinions on the Denon 2805. Will be driving Forte's for mains, KG-1's for rears KTLCR center and a velodyne sub. Plan on making a switching network to allow the flexibility of using my 2A3 PP amp for 2 channel listening to the Forte's. Comments on this unit?? whadyasay
Features, digital processing, and sound quality on the 2805 are excellent. I use one as a preamp/processor going into a separate amp. Depending on the sensitivity of your speakers and the size of your basement, you might want to consider stepping up to the 3805, which has more power. Both receivers, especially the 3805, have gotten some very positive reviews as of late.
Brap
Thanks! Forte's have a 96 spl rating, I push them just fine with a 12WPC 2A3 PP amp now. The rears would be KG-1's and with 100 watts the 2805 has, seems like that's adequate. 3805 is a little out of the price range I think. Frzninvt
It is not the additional power that makes it a better unit it is the DAC's and processors that make it an improvement over the 2805. The Forte's are 98db efficient by the way if I am not mistaken.
Brap
Thanks , pulling up the comparisons now. Oh -- can't fool you, 98db is correct.
RFG-1
Ive got the 2805. GREAT, Clean Receiver w/ 90 WP/Ch. 3805's got 110 WP/Ch. Both great receivers, You cant go wrong either way. The auto cal is a super feature and set ups room EQ, etc.. in less than 3 mins. Faster and more accurate than any other amp on the market. I use the 2805 with a new set of RF-35's and KSW-12 Sub. Simpy Awesome !
