Daddy Dee
At 140K for the monoblocks, it makes the 25K preamp look like a bargain.
boom3
"Tube Research Labs typically does not publish traditional measurements on its equipment's performance. These measurements illustrate how machines hear, not how humans hear. We probably are years away from having measurements which we can really associate to or correlate with the listenability of a device." meanwhile, trust us and fork over the kilobucks..right.... Daddy Dee
excerpt from a review on the 800 watt beast: But THE800 reminds me once again for sure that America designs and manufacturers magnificent stuff when American is dead serious to do so. THE800 is superb and unbelievably great and I feel some kind of fear to come close to it.
Parrot
You know the old audio saying, "It's the last seven hundred and ninety-nine watts that count."
Allan Songer
It's actually the last 1249 watts that matter to some folks. http://www.vtl.com/pages/classic_reference.html#MB1250
Parrot
Yeah, but at only $27,500, they probably had to cut a lot of corners. Remember, it's important that the first 800 watts be of top quality.
Allan Songer
Imagine retubing the beasts with FORTY-EIGHT of these. Another cool ten grand for output tubes! http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/battleshipkelly/.mids/gena4.JPG
AnalOg
In all honesty I would love to hear something like this with the correct speaker setup. Tom
D-MAN
Turn off the gas, it heats your house at the same time! Bonus! But for that kind of green, it ought to at least do the dishes, too. DM
Daddy Dee
I wonder what they'd cost if made in China?
Daddy Dee
Interesting. Hadn't thought about what kind of electrical service would be required. Well, one thing about them, it won't matter if the speakers aren't all that efficient. In fact, I wonder what kind of speakers could even be expected to be paired with these bohemoths.
