Boji7.1
I have a 7.1 system and was wondering if there were any DVD's in 7.1 sound. Also I just bought a H/K reciever with Logic 7. How good does it reproduce 7.1 sound from a 5.1 source? Thanks for your help.
gcoker
There is no such thing as a 7.1 encoded DVD 6.1 is as high as they go. But for 6.1 and Lord of the Rings always do the trick. Remember, the only difference between a 6.1 and 7.1 is there are two "rear centers". In a 7.1 system the rear speakers get the same signal. Foxman
Butterfly Effect is 6.1 as well if I am not mistaken
Shade
In a 7.1 system the rear speakers get the same signal. ----------------------------------------------------------- Actually that's not 100% accurate. Lexicon processors have stereo rears (matrixed) in 7.1, ie different signals to each rear. The logic7 in his H/K is a less advanced version of the Logic7 used in Lexicon's processors. His receiver may well have stereo rears. In any case, I think you'll really enjoy 7.1 processing on your DVDs. After you get used to it, 5.1 seems lacking. sfogg
Shade is correct about Logic 7. DPL2x will also run on top of a 5.1 signal to matrix out four surround channels from the system. In both cases the signal sent to the rears is not mono. Shawn
