jfmacken
Do any of you guys think using the vintage hk630 preamp section with a yamaha ax596 integrated would be a good idea with my heresy's? I have both integrated amps and the hk sounds nice and warm, but doesnt have enough juice, while the yamaha is much cleaner at high volume (100 watts) but less organic sounding. Daddy Dee
It would sure be worth a try to see how they complement each other. The preamp in the HK may be cleaner than the Yamaha. Hope you'll post your take on the results.
Cal Blacksmith
Pre-amps are more important than amps, I found this out by the uasual route. Klipsch speakers then a new amp then new source then new pre-amp. Kinda back@sswards. You have to have good source and pre-amp, that will make or break an amp. Somp pre and amp combos don't work well together, you need to try it and see. I was not happy until I wound up with an all tube system, your preference may varry. jfmacken
This is great, I get the best of both worlds with this combination! Using the hk630 as a preamp, I get that lovely hk sound, but now with the yamaha horsepower. Time to turn up the volume!
