wtkolb
Can I place the sub directly below the TV in the entertainment center. Are the new DLP or JVC chip TV's any less prone to problems with the magnetic field. I am working with a high end audio installation company during new home construction and they dont see any problem with put a front firing sub in the entertanement center below the TV. The cabinet is open on the very bottom. They prefer I use Velodyne but I said I will probably use a front firing Klipsch. Do I need to be concerned about putting a sub below the set. sire
Should be no problem. From what I have read, only CRT television tubes are affected by magnetic fields. Would your entertainment center have an open back where the sub sits? The way I understand Klipsch subs, the front driver is passive and the rear is active. Not sure how that would sound in an enclosed entertainment center. Mike
wtkolb
I would use the front firing RW series sub. They do not have the rear passive. In reading the specs on the Velodyne, they refer to many of their models as video shielded. I may have to ask Klipsch if the RW series is video shielded. tommyboy
I don't think you'll have a problem with magnetic shielding, but I had my sub too close to the T.V once. When it would hit really hard and deep, the soundwaves would actually distort the image on the screen. Hope this helps you out.
jpm
I own a RW12 sub, and no, it is not shielded. Mine is about 4' from the TV and that's adaquate. Any closer and the color suffers.
