boom3
I am wondering if anyone has considered retrofitting Klipschorns with K-79s. I prefer them to K-77s, and they might *just* fit. The availability of K-79s is another question of course. Another question: Is the K52/K600 combo one item that cannot be dissaembled to change the diaphram? Thanks! djk
K79 is bigger than K77, but real problem is that it is 3dB less efficent. The nuts come off the unitized driver/horn combo so you can replace the diaphragm.
boom3
Thanks. If the K79 is 3dB less efficient than the K77, then could the stock network (whatever that maybe for a particular Khorn) be adjusted without resort to L-pads or another autoformer? Daddy Dee
hmmmm, one thought. If the squawker is connected to the #3 tap on the autotransformer, then it's output drops 3db, correct? Perhaps a way to make the HF output match.
TBrennan
Dee--If that worked one would still have to deal with the basshorn then being more efficient than both the mid and tweeter. This might be a good situation for (real) bi-amping; one amp on the woofer and the other on the mid-tweet.
Daddy Dee
yeh, I was wondering about that.
