tommyboy
A coworker of mine is starting to get into ht. He bought my sb1's, and my KMC center. He's buying the SF1's or 2's really soon, and will run the SB1's as surrounds. He now wants to upgrade his receiver, but his budget is only around $300. I didn't know which one to tell him for that price, so I turn to the forum. Thanks for any input you may have.
MrMcGoo
The thing to do is to look for B stock or open boxes in perfect condition. If he is careful, he can get a better machine. Not much is available at $300 MSRP that he will want to listen to. In his price range the Panasonic digital receivers are better than average. If he can go up to $400, the Pioneer 1014TX-K is on sale at BB. It is a very good deal. Bill
Cheerdude
Ditto the 1014 recommendation. Of course, I haven't used it yet... but from what I've read, it's a great receiver.
Olorin
The H/K AVR135 at $299 shipped from jr.com seems like a contender.

gcoker
Ditto on buying an open box or referbished unit.
