Klipschguy
Okay, I have recently designed and built a pair of bookshelf speakers. Midrange and treble are well balanced, but in the bass region the Q seems too low and they sound "tight and dry." The extension is actually pretty good, but I need some boominess. I really think I'm overdamped (and the boxes currently have no damping material). Male vocals are just not chesty enough. BTW, the boxes are ported. I'm thinking about adding a series resistor with the voice coil to raise the Qes (and thus the Qts). I worked my butt off on these lovely maple boxes and they are very close to being excellent. Any suggestions? Thanks, Andy
Deang
I'm thinking about adding a series resistor with the voice coil to raise the Qes (and thus the Qts). I would change the woofer inductor out with a DCR higher than the one you are currently using.
