Hi everyone

I currently have 2 rsx-4's 2 rsx-5's an rcx-4 and a RW-12 sub

I want to hook them up to my computer

I'm going to use the digital out from my sound card which will then go to the reciever and then power the speakers

My budjet is pretty small $200-$300 I am willing to buy a used reciever if i have to

I picked this one out nut i'm not sure if it is what i need

http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/HTIB/HTR5750.htm

Thanks a lot

all help is greatly appreicated

P.S. do i need a pre-amp????

recievers have have pre-amps in them, used equip will save you a lot of money, Yammies are proabably fine for MPEG files, but when you get a universal player (for HT), you might want HK, which are far more popular here with big ole horns...

If he had "big ole horns", I'd agree with you.

Re-read his post - he's got RSX sattelites. The "bright" qualities of the Yamaha receivers aren't going to be nearly as pronounced as if he was running RF's...

For $300 this is not a bad way to go IMO:

Cheaper than brand new, yet still with a one-year warranty. I saved quite a bit on my Denon receiver from them, and have been nothing but pleased. They were quick to respond to my questions via email and shipped it out the same day I ordered it.

In the $300 price range, the panasonic XR series of receivers are probably the best sounding units you can find....

the 6 internal digital amps will definitely sound better than the yamaha receivers in this price range....

a friend of mine bought one of these for his bedroom system and then tried it in his living room system that was being powered by a denon 3801 or 3802 (?).... after one movie - the denon was sent to the bedroom and the panasonic became the receiver inthe main system

her is using infinity speakers for his system.... but the difference between the denon and panasonic was very obvious... better bass, highs much cleaner...

good luck!

the sub has it's own built in amplifier and a receiver consists of a preamp, am-fm tuner(usually), and 5 amplifiers (sometimes 6 or 7 amplifiers - depending upon how many channels the receiver is designed to run)....

Ok i've looked around so far i like

panasonic SA-XR50S

panasonic SA-XR70S

panasonic SA-HE100

YAMAHA HTR-5750

(as u can tell i neeed a silver color)

I couldnt really tell which one was the best but i noticed taht the xr70. xr,50 dont have a sub level control

Oh i forgot to mention that this system will be used for 75% music and like 25% movies (if taht makes any difference)

Right now i got the klipsch promedia wires (monster xp)

http://www.klipsch.com/media/Photos/monstercable51_large.jpg

And i took a look at the back panel of the panasonic and it had different imputs

so do i need little covertur plugs?

not correct..... from page 11 of the XR50 owner's manual

"For SW (subwoofer), MIN for minimum output, a level between 1 and

19, or MAX for maximum output. Adjust subwoofer output so it is

balanced with the front speakers. Subwoofer output is easily influenced

by the source. You can also change its level while playing something for

better effect"

click on the "operating instructions" on the following link:
