lb19984
I looked around the forum and supposedly it will work so... my revised question is Is theere anything better for the money ($200-$300) than the YAMAHA HTR-5750 and will the YAMAHA also require me to gget pre-amp? THanks again
Bill H.
lb19984, If you've heard this receiver with Klipsch and You like it go for it! Most folks here aren't keen on Yammys...........you might also look a Denon models. JMHO.
Griffinator
For the RSX's, you probably will like that yammy just fine, but take a poke around and look for something a couple steps up used on Audiogon. You could probably land a 5660 (previous year model, more digital outs and pre-outs for later amplifier upgrades) for the same money. Colin
recievers have have pre-amps in them, used equip will save you a lot of money, Yammies are proabably fine for MPEG files, but when you get a universal player (for HT), you might want HK, which are far more popular here with big ole horns... Re-read his post - he's got RSX sattelites. The "bright" qualities of the Yamaha receivers aren't going to be nearly as pronounced as if he was running RF's... IAmtnbikr
For $300 this is not a bad way to go IMO: http://www.dakmart.com/website/ItemDetail.asp?ItemId=24521&cID=111 Cheaper than brand new, yet still with a one-year warranty. I saved quite a bit on my Denon receiver from them, and have been nothing but pleased. They were quick to respond to my questions via email and shipped it out the same day I ordered it. minn_male42
In the $300 price range, the panasonic XR series of receivers are probably the best sounding units you can find.... the 6 internal digital amps will definitely sound better than the yamaha receivers in this price range.... http://focuscamera.com/sc/froogle-lead-1.asp?id=964592545&rf=froogle&dfdate=02_11_2005&sid=668195870 http://www.provantage.com/buy-7pstv0ak-home-theater-receiver-w-dig-amplifier-dts-96-24-es-dolby-ex-panasonic-radios-tvs-stereos-consumer-electronics-sa-xr50-shopping.htm http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/search/detail/base_pid/242383/src=01340 a friend of mine bought one of these for his bedroom system and then tried it in his living room system that was being powered by a denon 3801 or 3802 (?).... after one movie - the denon was sent to the bedroom and the panasonic became the receiver inthe main system her is using infinity speakers for his system.... but the difference between the denon and panasonic was very obvious... better bass, highs much cleaner... good luck! Adjust subwoofer output so it is balanced with the front speakers. Subwoofer output is easily influenced by the source. You can also change its level while playing something for better effect" click on the "operating instructions" on the following link: http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?storeId=11251&catalogId=11005&itemId=71049&catGroupId=11135&displayTab=R&surfModel=SA-XR50&surfCategory=Receivers
