sunprairie
I have never had a set of tubes on my LaScalas, and would really like to try some without laying out huge $$. This is for sale on an audiogon auction. Any input? http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/auc.pl?ampstube&1109390902&1&3&1&
NOSValves
Looks well built but the seller spends 90% of his listing talking about himself and say's he doesn't want to bore us with the particulars of the amplifier Hmmmmmmm go figure. sunprairie
Good point. Being a total novice of tubes, I wouldn't even know what to ask the seller really. Just looking for opinions. Lots of home built projects out there, but thought it looked well built.
Colin
I like the price, not too bad, I like that he keeps the voltage low, I especially like the auto biasing feature, very nice for tubes, dont believe he is selling this cause he has so many, think this is a hobby of his, ask what his bets one is, the differences will tell you why he is selling this one, a brand name one might re-sell better later, like the point to point wiring, instead of a circuit board, dont like that he sells the tubes separately - that makes cost look lower, it also leaves the quality of the sound up to you, if you dont like it, he can always say, well, its the tubes, what is the shipping and the guarantee? sunprairie
Sounds like it would be better to just find something else. Too many unknowns.
anarchist
Get an Eico HF81. If it is in decent shape, you can't go wrong.
Colin
A refurbished name brand one will give you more purchase confidence, there is a guy here who has some for sale from time to time, BTW, HORNS LOVE TUBES!
sunprairie
Yes, this is what I hear over and over. Have focused on HT setup, but would love to integrate a nice music platform also. Anyone with something for sale that may be a good start, drop a note. Thanks
