mcp
I have finally decided to upgrade from my KG4s to Quartets or Fortes/Forte IIs. I want to move to a speaker with a horn midrange. Should I avoid having either of these shipped? Or should I wait patiently for something to come up for sale locally? Before someone writes it--I can't go any bigger than the Fortes--I know how great the Cornwalls are. Also, still not quite sure which is better, the original Fortes or the IIs. Any input would be appreciated...

Audible Nectar
"Before someone writes it--I can't go any bigger than the Fortes--I know how great the Cornwalls are." Hehehehe....you know us too well I would look for your Forte or Forte II to come up in your region. If you have a vehicle that would haul your Fortes, I would look for a pair within a reasonable driving distance (which in my book has been as long as 13 hours one way, but should be less in your case). They will come up, if you keep your eyes peeled - just hang out here, ebay, etc. You'll find them. I wouldn't ship them.
mcp
Thanks for the input. Yeah...that's what I thought about shipping. Read too many horror stories about shipping damage--almost always the risers that get crushed.
