WMcD
I saw KoH last weekend in small cineplex. The movie did not sag for lack of talent and money. Yet it didn't seem to work for me. The grand physical climax was a catapult competition. The grand psychic climax was peace with honor. How wonderful. It seems the full lenght version on DVD will be 3.5 hours. We'll see what was left on the cutting room floor. It has got to be better. Gil
ARPRINCE
Watched this one last night. I liked it too but the story line was however somewhat so-so for me because I felt it was jumping from one to another leaving some gaps that made me ponder a lot more than just follow the flow of the story. ygmn
Watched the DVD last night.. about 2.5 hours... I liked it.... enough story to keep you in front of Screen... Enough special effects (Ie not too much) interesting DVD>...one option is to have the subtitles list out the historical facts about things happening in the movie...did not do that yet...but probably will next time... the violence is a bit much for little kids... lots of heads get cut off and some blood flyin in the close in battle scenes...also vultures flying around picking through dead bodies... If you like Medievil ages, knights, history, jeruselum history, sword fights, trebuchets, a guy with leprosy, Riddly Scott Movies etc etc then this movie is for you... Really it is a good movie and entertaining enough to keep me glued to my seat..... Thumbs up.... Ps....Way way way way better then Alexander....night and day..not even sure why I say it...other then it is good... this movie is better then TROY IMO
Colin
KoH is a long movie, with a nice story that worships a hero, but another bland performance from Orlando Bloom Johnny Depp or Leonardo de Caprio (sp), he is not <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The hero utters revisionist history comments about religion that would have got him burned at the stake back then, but the basic history of the crusades was interesting Unlike LTR, the constant fake scenes do not wear you out I like realistic battle scenes war is about killing (Woody Allen said war is about foodand sometimes a beverage!) Not a really good movie at all. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Troy, based on one of the most enduring works in western literature (Ulysses Homer), is a better movie. Brad Pitt looks and acts better as the petulant warrior, the front of the city wall is real and the plot is based on real people acting strange (like real people). Gladiator (no, not the porn movie), is a much better medieval war/love movie with a powerful performance by Joaquin Phoenix. No thumbs up: hand sideways. Anything is way than Alexander.
