I first worked with tubes in a tv repair shop in the 50's, then the USN on a tin can (fire control radar)then the Dewline until 1976, then my Heathkit tv's, and amps and pre-amps, then the Fisher receivers. Then switched to solid state in 1985. The best tube guy's were the Western Electric Co.---their tubes would last for 20 years and then some.
