Kain
Dude, remember that I live in Dubai, UAE and I can only buy from what is available since I CANNOT order online since most online shops do not ship internationally. I am making my decision between these two DVD players: Toshiba SD-5200 Toshiba SD-900E The SD-5200 is a non Progressive Scan DVD player but the SD-900E does have Progressive Scan. avman
follow the links on the website i quoted earlier and read about the p.s. vs. regular players; the toshiba models, etc. the more costly p.s. toshiba dvd player you provided the link to (xxx900)model looks way cool, i'd get that one if $'s not a problem, btw how much is that in U.S. $'s? avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center sony strda-777ES receiver NEW! sony playstation 2! dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 35"tv panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire ksps-6 surrounds and a 'teens sub coming! avman
well, that's a chunk of change,if the better of the two is as good as it looks, i'd still get it,but not just for better picture via progressive scan, but the dvd audio features/build quality as well. you're going to have to decide this one, i don't think ps.output alone would justify the additional $$'s. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds sony strda-777ES receiver sony playstation 2 dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 35"tv panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire a'teens' sub coming! Kain
Well, in your opinion, are Progressive Scan DVD players really worth it?

Kain
I would get the Toshiba SD-900E if I am 100% sure that the TV will support Progressive Scan.
Seb
dude, I'll try to make it simple: BUY THE 5200!! if you don't plan to get into DVD audio and money is the slightest issue, from what avman tells us it seems like the prog scan feature doesnot warrant the higher price, as your TV will provide you with a similar feature. then just default to the less expensive model.
