New Heresy Pics

Hey, wheelman.

I am so surprised that the Heresys offer so much of the Klipschorn sound. I will go as far as to say, they sound like a smaller version of the Khorn. I agree the bass seems better on the floor. In my room, I prefer that sound. In other rooms, the Heresy may interact differently.

At the moment I am running the Heresy with an Atoll IN50 intergrated amplifier, about 50 watts per channel. I tried my Jolida SJ302 tube amp, but the match is not a happy one. The main reason for this is because I've got transformer problems, and I know this amp is not operating to spec.

Actually I can imagine someone running the Heresy with just about any good quality mainstream solid state amplifier - perhaps a Creek or Naim Nait 5. In relation to lower powered specialist tube amplifiers, I would suggest room size and listening tastes woiuld be a factor. The Heresy is definitely not as sensitive as the Klipschorn. I have to advance my volume control another 20 to 30% to get similar levels I enjoyed with the Klipschorn.

My new Heresys arrived today. I've posted some pics below. Typical Klipsch. They stuffed up the delivery date. I expected these speakers next week, and they arrived a week early!

I must say, a new Heresy is an extremely well presented package. There's something special about unpacking a brand new Heritage loudspeaker. The excitement when it arrives..., that new speaker smell...

Anyway, as you can see below. I survived the unpacking process intact - so did the Heresys.

Now to the first listening impressions.

Having enjoyed an early model Klipschorn in my listening room for the last year or so, I expected very little from the Heresy. Only that these speakers would tide me over until I could order my new Klipschorns/LaScalas. On the first couple of tracks they sounded a little harsh. But they very quickly settled in, and I was absolutely astonished at the performance from these little beggers. Everything from 1960's Elvis to CCR, they rocked. But even more impressive was the way they reproduced Mahler. Outstanding. Every note just hung in the ear. I could cut the soundstage with a knife.

There's nothing they do badly. The Heresy offers a very large slice of the Klipschorn magic for small money. I can imagine that those who are on a limited budget, or with rooms too small for the larger horn speakers, could seriously consider the Heresy 2. Some may like a little more extension in the bass, I would imagine this speaker would match very successfully with a quality subwoofer. But personally, I don't consider a subwoofer necessary.

Anyhow, enough of this typing. I'm going back to listen some more.

Hi, kbear. Walnut sounds like a good color. I intend to get my other Klipschorns/LaScalas in this finish.

In relation to price, in Australia the Heresy 2 is listed for $2599. That sounds like a lot of money compared to U.S. prices, but the $US is worth more than the A$. I paid $2200 Australia for mine. The KLipschorn is listed for $18,999 and the Belle, $14,999. The La Scala is $9899.
