kingdave
I was just wondering... for setting up a surround sound system, what makes the best rear surruond speakers? Would I go with specific surround speakers (like the S-3s or ss-3s) or would Bookshelfs or even regular floor speakers work just as well or even better? Cuz I am in the market for a good pair of rear surrounds to complete my set (under my price cap)... thanks dave
Rdmarsiii
I have a pair of B-3's for sale if you'd like to use those for surrounds.
psg
I like my current surrounds. Having timbre-matched full range speakers as surrounds adds to 5.1 HT as well as multi-channel music. As long as you have room for them!
Malcolm
The most important thing to me is that they are timbre matched with the rest of the system. That means using speakers from the same line, in my case, Klipsch Heritage. Some folks aren't so picky. Then IMHO the surrounds should be full range or as close as practical, going do at least to 80 Hz or so where they can cross over to the sub. Initially, the frequency range of surround channels was limited, but this is changing. There are folks who aren't so picky about this, too. That leaves the question of direct, dipole or bipole design. There has been a lot of discussion about which is best. Direct works well for me. But then, I don't really have a choice with the Heritage line. I have 5 nearly identical speakers and a sub.
