BetaTester
Team, For optimum performance of the RF-5's coupled with a Velodyne F1200 subwoofer where would you recommend setting the crossover frequency on the subwoofer? This sub has a 12" driver with a 100 Watt Class A/B amplifier and a frequency response of 20 - 85Hz. Coupled with a Sony STRV-555ES Receiver and RB-5's as the rear, RC-7 for the center, with the speakers selected as (large). At present, I have selected 60Hz. Any ideas? DrWho
If you have the sub connected to the LFE out on the reciever then I would put the crossover dial to the highest value possible (which will basically turn it off). The reason for this is the reciever is already doing your crossover for you.
TheEAR
You have a crossover in the receiver,if it is fixed it is at 80Hz.Set the crossover point on the sub to the highest setting. If you hear too much "boom" you can always lower the crossover point on the sub,to start leave it at the highest setting.
Drew in the desert
"...with the speakers selected as (large). " Correct me if I am wrong, but if you have the speakers set to "Large", there is no crossover taking place in the receiver. Only the LFE is going to the sub.
