  1. What happened to Velodyne? The real answer, is they are farming their products out (high volume) to the Best Buy's / Circuit City's. Is this the same product that we are used too? NO! Velodyne is an excellent sub, as long as you stay away from the entry level line of products. I own their F1200 sub, and feel it is superior to the Klispch units. My reasons for Velodyne over the Klipsch will be covered in another email if requested. The servo accelerometer is an excellent invention. Polk Audio has done the same as Velodyne, with mass marketing their once high end speakers to the Crutchfields, Best Buy's & Circuit City's.
  2. Always, provide some protection between the object and the glass. I am using clear protective pads on the bottom of 15mm UltraWhite® glass. And yes, it prevents anyone from accidently placing a drink or container on top of my RF-5's. Until now, the typical result when laminating conventional clear float glass was color distortion and a reduction of visible light transmission as the laminate thickness increased. UltraWhites combination of strength, security and distortion-free vision equals unparalleled performance.
  3. The Plasma TV's are built for a 10 year lifespan. Define your objective on what what you want to accomplish, as all of the new televisions will be hitting the street in late September. I would be looking at the Sony SXRD technology as they are superior, and I beta test their products. Have fun!
  4. The people who are selling these, sure went out of their way to take enough pictures! Looks like the are looking for a modeling job. Guys, stay away from these. I have a hard time understanding they will ship these to your home for the price of $1149. You may want to do some more research. Lastly, there is always a reason on why someone wants to get rid of them. Good Luck.
  5. Spanks, How far are you away from Melbourne? I picked up some nice equipment in the land of down under there. Then again, the exchange rate was to my advantage. Let me know if you have further inquiries.
  6. What media do you have that was encoded in 7.1 format? I think you already have the answer to this question!
  7. As a Monster Cable® guru, it depends and your funds, and how selective your listening is. The video cables have the most impact, especially with the 1080I TV's. I am using the M-Series Line, and feel they merit some looking into. As for speaker cables, the Z2-Reference are beautiful, however the black box they are packaged in, is a nonvalue added prop. As for the audio cables and speaker wires, buy as good as you can afford, without overdoing it. (Put your money in a nice pair of Klipsch RF-7's) Spend your money in your front (main) speakers, and stay with the medium line of cables at Monster. Good Luck with your purchase!
  8. RF-7's - $1125 Pair RC-7 $425 For the month of June, free shipping of products to the Dealers.
  9. Team, For optimum performance of the RF-5's coupled with a Velodyne F1200 subwoofer where would you recommend setting the crossover frequency on the subwoofer? This sub has a 12" driver with a 100 Watt Class A/B amplifier and a frequency response of 20 - 85Hz. Coupled with a Sony STRV-555ES Receiver and RB-5's as the rear, RC-7 for the center, with the speakers selected as (large). At present, I have selected 60Hz. Any ideas?
  10. The price of $975 for this product is Overpriced. A good price is $700.00
  11. Carl, I just purchased a pair of the RF-5's for $700.00 a pair. Do you think this was a fair price? From my local dealer. Also, give me some feedback on your RC-7? Just added the RF-5's and thought the RC-7 would work out well. Thanks, BT $509.00 + tax for the RC-7 and $700.00 + tax apiece for the RF-7's. I bought from an authorized dealer in Louisiana about an hour from my house in Tx. Carl
  12. In response to your request, please do a search on this website, as many authors have listed prices, and areas to purchase these fine loudspeakers. We do not want to start another link for this same request. In summary, contact Ovation Stores, as they have a promotion on these loudspeakers for $700.00 a pair. This is a once in a lifetime savings on our favorite speakers. Good Luck with your findings, and if you require additional assistance, feel free to send me a private message.
  13. The RF-7's should be around $1200 for a good deal, and for the RC-7, I have seen this listed for $420.00. I have not seen this any cheaper. Good Luck
  14. I am in the process of purchasing a pair of the RF-5's at Ovation. ($750) They will not go ANY lower. Any ideas on who I should want to talk too, or which location would be the best place to visit. Thanks.. BT
  15. As a newbie, I wanted to say thanks to everyone for their rapid responses to fielding my questions about the RF-5. For some odd reason our local Klipsch dealer (will not) order these. In doing some research, it looks like I missed the good deal at Ovation. I will give them a call on Monday and talk to Jim Howard at the Castleton store. I will have to drive about 6 hours to pick these up, but I guess this is my only option at this time. Perhaps, he could work me some kinda deal, as I will be doing a quick pick and not require any listening or time of his. The wholesale price of these are $375 each, or $750.00 a pair. If anyone else has some ideas, feel free to contact me. Thanks again!!!
  16. Looks like you are planning on putting some serious cash out on the table for this machine. I would consider looking at the new Dell XPS Generation V Desktops. Then again, I could help you out with the Employee Price, which blows the Alienware away for price.
  17. Team, Are the RF-5's being discontinued? I am unable to purchase these local, as they tell me these are NOT popular speakers, and they will not order them for me. (Michigan area) Any ideas on who to trust for Mail Order purchases? Thanks...
