Coytee
there is a staggering delay between video & audio on this Emerson/Lake/Palmer "Beyond the Beginning" dvd I bought. Any ideas as to why the lag? Using XP, Media player and no other dvd does that as far as I'm aware ?? VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY annoying
Jay481985
I believe your computer may not be quick enough or your soundcard is underpowered enough not to replicate the timing right.
Coytee
but I only have one dvd with the issue, woudn't that affect others??
Jay481985
hmm.... did you try a restart??? maybe your computer has been on too long and is lacking suffiencent memory? Try it on a regular dvd player to see if there is a problem too? Is the computer to hot? is it in a a/c room??? the computer tends to do that when it becomes to hot. Or is something big running in the back? i.e antivirus or spyware remover?
Shade
Or is something big running in the back? i.e antivirus or spyware remover? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you're running McAfee, pull up taskmanager and look for a process called alogserv.exe. That's the process that continuously scans for viruses in the background. Big resource killer. Also, maybe try a different DVD player software and see if that helps. VLC is a good media player, and it handles DVDs. Better yet, it's free. Also, if your using any DSP effects on the audio, that might throw off the audio sync. Coytee
It was off a fresh boot but I'll try it again. I DO have two dvd players, 1 burner & 1 reader. It lags in BOTH of them I don't have any other dvd's that exhibit the same deal.
Jay481985
in dvd player i meant the home theater version. Also it may be the dvd is dirty? I doubt that or maybe the laser is dirty???
DrWho
sounds like a problem with the dvd if it only happens to this disc

I just couldn't imagine that they'd make a disk (defective?) today that might do something like that. Oh well. Frankly, I can't say it's too good anyway (just bought it). I guess I just had my hopes a bit to high.
hooting_monkey
Some DVD simply refuse to work properly when used in a software DVD player. I recall the "The Abyss Collecters Addition" was one that you had to download a hotfix from Windows Update.
